Program Overview

  • Grades: 5th–11th (12th invite only)

    • Ages: 11u-17u

  • Season: Early March through Late May (some teams into first week of June)

  • Teams: If necessary, multiple teams will be formed at each grade level, with placement determined by skill level and experience.

  • Tournaments: 6 tournaments per team

  • Practices: Weekly team practices

Practices

Teams will practice at least once per week. Exact practice days and times will be determined after teams are selected in order to best accommodate athletes and facility availability. In past seasons, some teams have opted for one longer weekly practice instead of two shorter sessions.

Practice locations may include:

  • Herkimer College

  • Borza Recreation Center

  • Elevate CNY

Practice locations will be selected to best accommodate each team’s coaches and players.

Coaches

Each team (grades 5–9) will be coached by a current or former college basketball player, or a current college coach. Coaches are assigned to one team only to ensure athletes receive their full attention. Unlike other organizations, we believe that coaches alternating between multiple teams hinders athlete development.

Tournaments

Each team will compete in six tournaments throughout the spring season, providing athletes with consistent game experience and opportunities to grow in a competitive setting.

Note: not all teams will play the same exact tournament schedule. Although, all teams are guaranteed to play 6 tournaments.

Example of last year's tournament schedule for a team:

Team Formation

Teams will be organized by grade level and age. Multiple teams may be formed per grade depending on registration numbers and evaluations, with “A” and “B” teams selected when necessary.

FAQ:

Who will coach my child's team?

We are currently determining which grade level each coach will lead. Final coach assignments by grade will be announced soon. Each coach is either a current or former college basketball player or coach, with the exception of a few coaches who are current high school coaches.

What does the registration fee go towards?

The full registration fee is applied toward tournament entry fees, practice facility costs, and coaching expenses. None of the fee is retained by the directors, as we operate as a not-for-profit organization.

How many players will be on each team?

There will be between 8-10 players on each team to ensure maximum development for each athlete. No more than 10.

How far will we have to travel for each tournament?

On a general basis, our tournament schedule includes three local tournaments, two nearby tournaments requiring a car trip (e.g., Albany or Syracuse), and one longer-distance or overnight tournament. For example, last season all teams traveled to Spooky Nook in Pennsylvania, one of the largest and most prestigious indoor sports complexes in the country.

If I was on a team last season, is my spot guaranteed for this season?

No, it is not. We have received more interest than ever for this upcoming season. If you are interested in playing for us this season - please make sure you show up to your designated tryout session.
